About the Seminar
This special seminar will explore the application of economic value chain analysis as a strategic tool for national development. Through practical insights and real-world examples, the seminar will demonstrate how value chain analysis not only enhances industrial advancement but also strengthens human capital, institutions, and collaborations, ensuring inclusive and resilient development across diverse sectors. The seminar will also emphasize how industries and academic institutions can leverage value chain perspectives to build competitiveness, drive innovation, and foster sustainable economic and social growth in key sectors like Sustainable Energy Solutions, Agriculture Technologies, and Semiconductor Development.
About the Speaker

Dr. Shaun is currently Senior Applied Research Specialist and consultant for the Asian Development Bank. He is also the CEO of Saksara – an Indonesian based research institute—focussed on human, social, and economic development throughout Asia. Dr. Shaun has a long career in academia and higher education leadership. He previously served for as Associate Dean (International) in the Faculty of Science at the prestigious University of Western Australia, was the Director of the International Science for our Future Festival – working alongside Nobel Laureate Professor Barry Marshall and other exceptional scientists and science communicators—promoting science to students throughout Southeast Asia. He was most recently Dean ASEAN at Curtin University in Australia and has been permanently based in and working throughout Southeast Asia for more than 20 years. Shaun is predominantly working on national development strategies through economic value chain analysis across diverse industry sectors—including sustainable energy solutions, energy storage, agriculture technologies, and semiconductors. He is concurrently working on the strengthening of higher education sectors through economic and social value chain analysis of institutions; the development of research, development and innovation ecosystems—including industry collaborations.
