Course Brief:
This course aims to enhance participants’ ability to identify constraints of agricultural soils for crop production and corrective measures to restore and maintain their productivity. It also covers how to transfer those techniques to farmers through effective extension strategies. The course covers subject substance on soil fertility management, management of problem soils, soil conservation and extension techniques.
Participants use case studies on community forest, agro-forestry, soil and water conservation measures, integrated development programs in forest area, public campaign programs, natural resources degradation and environmental impact by various forms of exploitation and development. Site visits are organized to projects on integrated watershed management, community forestry, or agro-forestry.
