Capacity Enhancement for Physiotherapists Assistants for Improving Services Delivery to PWDs (Batch 2) 15th February to 25th February 2016

In continuation of the collaboration with the Ministry of Social Welfare (MoSW), Government of Bangladesh, the 2nd Batch of Assistant Therapists undertook training program in Thailand. There were 28 officers and staff of the MoSW and the National Foundation for Persons with Disabilities, JPUF) participated in the 12-day training activity. The program aimed to enhance knowledge and skills of the assistants on methods and techniques for physiotherapy, occupational therapy and learning development of children with intellectual disabilities.

It is important to note that the long-term collaboration between AIT Extension and JPUF was initiated by AIT Alumna, Dr. Md. Anwar Ullah, Joint Secretary of MoSW and Director (Admin and Finance). 

At Rajanukul Institute (Department of Mental Health) the participants were guided on the use of low-cost teaching materials to enhance learning and development of children with intellectual disabilities.  They also observed and interacted with care takers and teaching staff of the special education school on learning development programs for Autistics children. They exchanged practical knowledge on the effective teaching techniques and tools. The special education school demonstrated parents’ participation in the learning activities that help improving the brain functions of the children.
