Small Scale Water Resources Rehabilitation and Management

Participants: Middle to senior level water resource and irrigation engineers, project directors/planners and staff of water resources/irrigation development projects.

Course Brief: This course is designed to enhance participants’ ability to identify the cause of poor performance in irrigation projects, to reestablish design criteria for rehabilitation and improvement, and to improve irrigation management capability through proper water allocation planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation techniques as well as farmer participation and inter-government interaction.

Course content covers planning and design for rehabilitation, irrigation system modernization and improvement, design of irrigation drainage and system, water management and project operation, budgeting and execution of maintenance program, and project monitoring and evaluation. This course includes case studies and study visit to irrigation projects being considered for rehabilitation to make critical analysis for the cause of poor performance and possible remedial measures.
